Since we are talking about the average weather forecast with temperature, moisture, clouds and precipitation, I have always thought to myself when watching local weather that I just want to know the conditions. Is it going to rain or snow? Will it be hot and sticky? Will the wind be so gusty that you better hold your hat? I realize the average person might need some additional information for an outside event, but the humidity level, pressure system, wind direction and dew point temperature is not going to determine whether I leave for work or not. It seems as if it takes 10 minutes to know how I should dress for the day especially during season changes when that pressure system or Arctic wind will determine I need a jacket for the afternoon. I don’t need to know high or low tide because I don’t surf or fish. Give me the headlines on an average weather day, “Today it will hot and sticky! Pollen is high so Zyrtec for breakfast! Our afternoon high at 3pm of 95 degrees F will feel like 105 F so stay hydrated all day, wind and precipitation activity will be low until intense thundershowers around noon which means hotter and stickier.” Don’t apologize because it is going to rain because otherwise the earth would shrivel up and that means I don’t have to water my flowers.

Does anyone feel like too much information creates anxiety around the weather? Traffic can be affected especially on potential snow days around my area and it is almost like the old saying “blame it on the weather”. The meteorologist is held under fire because his predictions were wrong and then everyone is up in arms because the bread and water are depleted. Meteorologists are definitely important to the science of weather but I feel like as we all know most of time “mother nature” is unpredictable especially in severe conditions such as hurricanes, tornado’s and blizzards.

The moral to my story is that we are fed so much information via local weather and news that creates anxiety that we forget to seize the day. My nemesis is snow and I always say I don’t like snow but it is really not that beautiful white blanket but what it does to my community that drives that dislike. Traffic is a mess and it stresses everyone out, therefore I will be making a snow angel the next time I can 🙂

Thanks for listening.

This week I am going to discuss temperature, moisture, clouds, and precipitation. I will start with temperature. Temperature is higher in the day than it is at night and here are some of the reasons why: During the day, the sun warms the surface of the earth. The surface, in turn, warms the layers of air very close to it, by conduction (Ahrens, D., 2014). The suns rays are most direct at noon , it occurs this way because that’s when the sun is at its highest point. The amount of heat energy is often reflected by clouds and the earths surface. Depending on the amount of clouds in the sky and the amount of energy the earth absorbs is where you get your different temperatures from. Obviously throughout the day when the sun starts to set and the earth is no longer getting her energy rays, it starts to cool off as darkness comes.

Moisture is water or other liquid diffused in a small quantity as vapor, within a solid, or condensed on a surface. Moisture can be described in several different ways, for example humidity is an expression that relates to the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere, therefore creating moisture in the air and on the ground.

Clouds come in many different shapes and have several different names such as cirrocumulus, Cirrostratus, cirrus , and cumulonimbus. These are only a few of the cloud names that I have learned. Clouds are a collection of liquid droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air.

Precipitation is when the water vapor reaches cooler areas, it condenses and forms liquid droplets. Millions of of these droplets become visible as clouds. Sometimes they grow large enough to fall to the ground as precipitation. In the winter months when the temperature drops below 32 degrees and it rains sometime sleet is formed which is nothing more freezing rain. When temperatures continue to drop that’s where we see precipitation in the form of snow. If rain, sleet, snow or hail falls over an ocean, the cycle is repeated. If it falls on land, it will either evaporate or return to the ocean in a creek or river.

After reading about these terms you gain a better understanding on how they all have something in common for example if the temperature is extremely hot and there are no clouds to absorb the suns rays then there will be no precipitation. It works the other way as well when the air starts to cool and clouds begin to form, liquid droplets begin to form creating rain, sleet, hail, or snow depending on the location you are to the equator.

One of the most useful tools you will use in your role as an Information Security professional is a hardening

One of the most useful tools you will use in your role as an Information Security professional is a hardening checklist. Essentially, it is a document that serves as a guide to configuring a desktop / system security. Please develop this guide for a windows 10 desktop environment.

The hardening checklist will take the form of a table or chart that lists how the Windows 10 desktop should be hardened. This will be culmination of everything you have learned, in terms of Operating Systems, Security Controls, and various strategies that can be employed. Essentially this documents will summarize everything you know about securing a system in an easy to follow checklist. You should try to provide a short and quick one sentence description on each setting or task that you are recommending in the checklist.

Consider what you already know about consulting for organizational change.

Consider what you already know about consulting for organizational change. Perhaps you have had personal experience with organizational development or change. Maybe you are part of a self-managed work team or transformative global corporation, or this may be your first foray into the world of consulting. In this Discussion, you reflect on your knowledge of organizational change and examine the skills required of OD consultants.
To prepare:
Review this week’s Learning Resources. Consider the role of OD consultants in addressing organizational issues and planning for change.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 3 a brief description of one area of organizational development you would like to learn more about during this course. Next, briefly introduce yourself, describe one skill you possess that you think will be important for you as an OD practitioner, and explain why this particular skill will be an asset.

When consulting for an organization, you must consider stakeholders such as employees and clients, the environment,

When consulting for an organization, you must consider stakeholders such as employees and clients, the environment, and the economic context of the organization. In addition, you must consider the relationships of these individuals and contexts with one another, how the whole organization functions, and how it should function. This type of complete or systems view is vital in order for an organizational development consultant to be effective.

A systems perspective employs a “theoretical framework involving multiple interrelated elements, where the properties of the whole are different than the properties of the parts” (Fuertes, Spokane, & Holloway, 2012, p. 234). Simply stated, while there are different elements of an organization—each focused on a specific outcome—combined, they work together to accomplish an organization’s overarching goals. When problems occur, it is important not only to consider the origins of the problem but also the type of system in which an organization operates so solutions can be more effective.

To prepare:

Review this week’s Learning Resources. Consider how to analyze systems-related problems and formulate solutions for systems-related problems.
Review the case study, “The NoGo Railroad,” located in Chapter 2 of the course text. Consider system dynamics, types, and aspects of systems along with how information and systems theory can help address system-related problems.
With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 a brief description of one systems-related problem related to the case study. Using the “NoGo Railroad Case Analysis Form” to guide your discussion, compare the problems at both the macro and micro levels. Your explanation should include the causes of the problem, the systems affected, the alternatives for solving the problem, and your recommendations for solving the systems-related problem. Then, justify your solutions.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

Finally, explain the personal competencies you, as an organizational change practitioner, might need to apply effective interventions for the ethical issue that you identified.
Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.
